Crates is yet another basic DIY material that you can get from factories and grocery stores. The familiar wooden texture gives it a default rustic appearance. It’s nice already as a container but we think it can be made into something much more for your home. You know, something more than just a container. Something with a higher purpose. Fond of industrial designs? Here’s something that might suit the accent! Add legs to a typical crate and it’ll make a nice table. But wait, reinforce it with L-brackets so it’ll turn out tougher!

The front porch could use a nice bench. Not just any bench, but a bench with some storage underneath for your shoes. Lift them up the ground a bit with some wooden legs. Adjust accordingly to fit the desired ergonomic height.
