Repurposed Ladder

Old ladders aren’t junk. Today, HomelySmart have compiled a list of useful ideas that will breathe new life into your ladders. It is recommended to use wooden ladder for the DIYs here because it makes it easier for the wood working process. Some parts may need to be detached or attached especially the shelving. But, don’t let this limit the possibilities! Using modern metallic ladders are plausible but creative efforts maybe needed for certain steps. Without further ado, let’s begin!

1. Bathroom Shelf

This DIY wardrobe may be a bit naked than common wardrobe. But, at least it’s cheap and allows full ventilation for your clothes. You can probably hang your clothes on it after a wash. The two ladders are connected together by a wooden rod on top. You can slide in several wooden planks right at the bottom as shelves for your foot wear. The image above shows its plain form. You can add decorative around it to suit the style of your home.

You can put baskets with hooks on one side for additional storage space. The ladder is not attached to the surface of the wall. So, you can move it around when you want to do a spring clean of your bathroom.

3. Shoe Storage

This design is a great vertical storage solution for your shoes. It might be a good idea to put the leg of the ladder in a large basket. The large basket can collect debris that may fall off from the sole of the shoes. This makes it easier for cleaning later.

Same concept applies for ladies shoe. But, the step of this ladder is too slim so it’s more suited for high-heels.

4. Living Room Shelf

Absolutely no nailing required. I mean you can, but it’s optional. Fill the ladder with ornaments and your special collectibles. The original creator decided it’s a great idea to throw in random stuffs onto the shelf. This creates a beauty within the mess as above.

5. Coffee Table

The top part of the ladder makes the right foundation for a tiny coffee table. The round glass top makes it look elegant when combined with the rustic woody texture of the ladder.

6. Work Station

7. Wall Book Shelf

Setting the ladders upside down made this piece of shelf looks magnificent. I mean you can put the ladder properly but this upside down twist makes it better. The random placement of objects such as planter, books and photo frames all together made this shelf a decorative display.

8. Kitchenware Hangers

Save some table space with this ceiling ladder. This ladder is perfect for storing cook wares. Just simply put several hangers by its steps. The top part of the ladder can be used to store things as well. You can saw off the ladder if it’s too long – any length that suits your needs.

10. Book Shelf

Who knew, ladders can be turned into wall shelves without any additional wooden planks. This idea is great for books because the side of the ladder is too slim for anything else. Books are the perfect thing for this installation.

The setup should be simple for most of us. But, that’s just the beginning. The next step is to decorate it. Make it become truly part of your home with your creativity.
